The Tsuchi Ring Vase is a horizontal stoneware loop, set on its side. A single small opening sits at the top of the ring, holding water and a stem laid through the circle. The geometry is the work; the function follows.
A modernist piece in a wabi-sabi finish. Suits a single curving stem laid through the ring, or sits as a quiet sculptural object alone on a low table or windowsill. Reads strongest against a flat surface with negative space around it.
Tsuchi is a family of hand-finished stoneware objects, each formed differently and all finished in the same matte beige glaze. Each piece carries small irregularities in the finish; no two are quite identical.
Tsuchi means earth, or clay, in Japanese. The shortest possible answer to the question of what these objects are.
