Tsuchi Urn Vase

The Tsuchi Urn Vase is the most traditional silhouette in the family: a classic baluster form with a narrow neck, a generously rounded body, and a small foot. The most familiar piece in the family, in the same matte beige glaze as the rest.

Holds a single stem comfortably, or a small loose gathering of two or three. Suits a dining table at the centre of a runner, a deep windowsill, or the corner of a kitchen counter set for an unhurried weekend. The form anchors whatever it sits among.

Tsuchi is a family of hand-finished stoneware objects, each formed differently and all finished in the same matte beige glaze. Each piece carries small irregularities in the finish; no two are quite identical.

Tsuchi (土) means earth, or clay, in Japanese. The shortest possible answer to the question of what these objects are.
