The Tsuchi Wedge Vase is angular and architectural: an asymmetric stoneware form built around a single clean cleft. A small opening at the peak holds a stem. The piece itself is the statement; whatever you place in it is the second note.
This is the most architectural of the Tsuchi family, and the easiest to underuse. A single architectural stem, a sculptural branch, a length of dried wheat. Place it where the wedge can be seen in profile rather than from directly above.
Tsuchi is a family of hand-finished stoneware objects, each formed differently and all finished in the same matte beige glaze. Each piece carries small irregularities in the finish; no two are quite identical.
Tsuchi means earth, or clay, in Japanese. The shortest possible answer to the question of what these objects are.
