Collection: Ceramic Bowls

Hand-thrown stoneware bowls, made in small runs so the glaze pools differently at every rim and no two pieces speckle the same way. A ceramic bowl earns its place three times a day, so these are shaped for real use: cereal and soup in the morning, a snack or side at lunch, pasta or salad at dinner.

Two ranges anchor the collection. Iwa is fired in deep iron-grey speckled glaze; Suna works in soft cream and oat. Both are sold in sets of two, which is how people actually eat, and both are designed to be mixed.

Choosing a bowl

Start with the everyday size. A deep bowl holds cereal, soup or ice cream; a shallow pasta bowl contains ramen, risotto and salad while still reading as a plate. For the table centre, a wide serving bowl works as a salad bowl, fruit bowl or single sculptural object. Buy a matched pair before you spread across three glazes; it reads as considered rather than accidental.

Caring for handmade stoneware

All bowls are dishwasher safe unless the product page says otherwise. Let a hot bowl cool before it meets cold water, and treat the small variations in glaze and form as the mark of hand-throwing rather than a fault.
