Collection: Handmade Ceramic Tableware

Hand-thrown stoneware and ceramic tableware, made in small runs so that every plate, bowl and cup carries the marks of how it was made. Glazes pool differently at the rim, weights vary slightly between pieces, and the speckling in the clay is never twice the same. This is handmade ceramic tableware in the honest sense: not distressed to look artisanal, simply made by hand and left that way.

Two ranges anchor the collection. Iwa is fired in deep iron-grey speckled glazes with the raw, unfinished quality of natural clay. Suna works in soft cream and oat for a lighter, quieter table. They are designed to be mixed.

Building a table setting

Start with dinner plates and work outwards. Six of one plate is more useful than two each of three, and mixing within a single glaze family reads as considered rather than accidental.

Most pieces are sold in sets of two or four, which is how people actually eat. Sizes run from 20cm side plates to 29cm dinner plates, with bowls, dishes and handle-less cups in the same clay.

Caring for handmade stoneware

All pieces are dishwasher safe unless the product page says otherwise. Avoid thermal shock: let a hot dish cool before it meets cold water. Small variations in glaze and form are characteristics of hand-throwing, not faults.
